FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
I had cryptocurrency stolen from me recently. Can you help?
Please email team@cryptoforensic.com and include a brief summary of what happened, and include blockchain transaction data associated with your loss – please make sure to include this data in a copy and pasteable format (not screenshots).
Are you able to help recover my stolen cryptocurrency? What are the odds of recovery?
Cryptoforensic Investigators is an investigative firm, not a recovery firm. Effectuating recovery of assets can occur via different means — in a smaller portion of cases, we can and have recovered funds for our clients without the need for law enforcement involvement via our vast network of cryptocurrency exchanges/services.
In the majority of instances where some funds have been recovered, it has been with the assistance of law enforcement acting on our intelligence and analysis — we generally don’t have the ability to effectuate recovery solely through our own actions. In some cases working with attorneys has also played an important role in leading to recovery.
Whether or not funds might be recovered depends on a plethora of factors. The odds of recovery can vary considerably depending on the specifics of the case.
What is your minimum case threshold?
Generally 200k USD, but we are sometimes willing to take on cases in the 50-200k loss range on a case-by-case basis depending on the nature and complexity of the case.
You told me my incident was too small or not advisable for an engagement. Are there any other options?
There are other blockchain investigative firms out there but very few of them are good at what they do. However, if we’ve declined to take on the matter it’s for a good reason, namely because we don’t think it’s in your best financial interest to do so. Referring you to another firm wouldn’t change that even if the other firm is willing to take you on as a client.
Where are you guys based?
We’re an international and distributed team of investigators based in various countries around the world, primarily the United States, Canada, and Europe. Our investigators have worked on cases in close to 100 countries, the largest portion of which have been in the United States and UK. The legal company behind Cryptoforensic Investigators is CF Investigators Inc, which is registered in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
I’m with a law firm and I am looking for an expert or expert witness that can help us with a matter involving cryptocurrency. Can you help?
Very likely, yes. Please email us a team@cryptoforensic.com with more details about the nature of the matter and we can proceed from there or set up a call.
